This series of lectures is dived into two parts. In Part I we deal with the Bresse system modeling arched beam. The main feature of this system is a parameter standing for the beam curvature. From this we present recent results on the dynamics of semilinear Bresse systems w.r.t. the curvature parameter. In Part II we discuss the theory of Determining Functionals for dissipative evolution equations. This is an important theory that allows us estimate the degree of freedom for the dynamics of such systems. Some open problems are also presented.
