宁陆涛(Lutao Ning)，英国伦敦玛丽女王大学商务管理学院准教授（Reader）、国际事务中心主任。博士毕业于英国剑桥大学，曾执教于剑桥大学，杜伦大学。主要研究领域为国际商务、企业创新、经济统计等。近五年，在国际核心期刊上发表30多篇高水平学术论文，出版专著1部。
内容摘要
This paper explores how the time-based characteristics of FDI, namelythe pace and rhythm of FDI expansion, influence technological upgrading within and across cities. Using the panel data of 244 Chinese cities for the period from 2004 to 2011, our empirical results show that FDI spillovers have apositive effect on local technological upgrading in both local and neighbouring cities. Irregular FDI expansion negatively moderates FDI spillovers in the samecity, but exhibits a positive effect on technological upgrading in neighbouringregions. Moreover, only rapid FDI expansion in neighbouring cities has apositive effect on local technological upgrading and can enhance its technological spill over effects across cities. Our empirical evidence provide simplications for both the theoretical framework and policy making.
